Ice Throw Assessment
Ice can be dangerous. For the wind turbine itself, ice can lead to imbalance at the blade tips and shorten the life of the turbine. Ice can also be dangerous for people in the vicinity of a wind turbine as it disintegrates and falls off the blades. Therefore an Ice Throw Analysis is necessary, as it will clarify the likelihood of encountering chunks of ice in the vicinity of the wind turbine.
WindGuard has developed a practical and licensable method of computation. We determine the probabilities of ice accumulation for rotating and stationary equipment individually, based on location and wind direction. With that, you can “stay cool” during the approval process!
